Sunday, April 1 from 1:30 – 3:00 pm<br />
Innis Arden Cottage at Greenwich Point</p>
<p>The Bruce Museum is joining with the Town of Greenwich to celebrate Earth Day Month 2012 on the first day of April.</p>
<p>The event kicks-off at 1:30 pm at the Seaside Center, housed at the Innis Arden Cottage at Greenwich Point.</p>
<p>Representatives from local environmental organizations such as the Greenwich Conservation Commission and the Shellfish Commission will be on hand, along with members of the Bruce Museum Science and Education departments. A number of engaging and informative family activities are planned throughout the afternoon, including programs that promote responsible stewardship of our natural resources. And Greenwich First Selectman Peter Tesei will present the Town’s official Earth Day Proclamation at 2 pm.</p>
<p>The event is free and open to the public.</p>

<p>About the Seaside Center<br />
The Bruce Museum’s Seaside Center is an environmental and cultural facility located in the Innis Arden Cottage on Greenwich Point, one of the East Coast’s most scenic coastlines. During summer months, visitors to the Point are encourarged to drop-in and explore the local shore and marine life. Daily activities at the Center may include guided nature walks which incorporate the geology and ecology of Greenwich Point, study and identification of Greenwich Point flora and fauna, marine organism anatomy dissections, plankton viewing with microscopes, arts and crafts and much more, Visitors can also enjoy the Center’s facilities at their own pace by viewing the dioramas, interactive exhibits and live specimens in the marine-life touch tank and aquariums. Open June 24 through September 2, regular hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. Beach passes are required for entrance into Greenwich Point. Fees for non-residents are $5 per person plus $20 for parking. <p>The First Music and Arts Series of the First Congregational Church in Old Greenwich presents the final program of its “Sunday Afternoons Live” concert series on Sunday, February 26 at 2:00 p.m. The Bryant Park Quartet will present a program of works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Ligeti.</p>
<p>Formed in 2006, the Bryant Park Quartet has performed recitals at Lincoln Center, Staller Center for the Arts, the Austrian Cultural Forum, Des Moines Art Center, as well as soloists with the Cornell Chamber Orchestra, and in collaboration with the Mark Morris Dance Group at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Based in New York City, the quartet’s members are Anna Elashvili and Ben Russell, violins, Nathan Schram, viola, and Tomoko Fujita, cello.</p>
<p>A prizewinner in the 2010 Hugo Kauder International Music Competition, the quartet has established itself as an accomplished string quartet through imaginative and spirited concerts. With its series, “The rEvolving Ear,” the Bryant Park Quartet strives to create programs that highlight connections between established works and composers, and explore contemporary works that inspire new paths of listening and appreciation for historical works.</p>
<p>First Music and Arts endeavors to present quality programming for the entire family. Every program is free, with a suggested donation of $20 per person to ensure continued support for future seasons in the series.</p>

<p>FOUR STEPS TO A HEALTHY IMMUNE SYSTEM<br />
with Dr. Susan Blum</p>
<p>Dr. Susan Blum, an assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Preventative Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, will address these questions and will explain the workings of the immune system and what it needs to function at its best. She will examine the four main sources of immune problems and what you can do to fix them.</p>
<p>A true pioneer in Functional Medicine and founder of The Blum Center for Health in Rye Brook, New York, Dr. Blum’s mission for personalized medicine is paramount for treatment and prevention. The Center focuses on the comprehensive integration of Functional Medicine, Mind-Body Medicine, and Nutritional Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine training at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital, her residency in Preventive Medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, and is Board Certified in Preventive Medicine. She received her Masters in Public Health at Columbia University, and her training in Functional Medicine from The Institute for Functional Medicine in Gig Harbor, Washington. Her work has been covered widely in national news and health media and she will be appearing on The Dr. Oz Show on January 13th, 2012.</p>

<p>Author and curator Charlotte Smith will return to Perrot to discuss her latest book, Dreaming of Chanel, which reveals the backdrop and dreams attached to pieces of clothing, whether they are made by famous designers or unknown dressmakers.</p>
