Town of Greenwich Youth Soccer
Ages 3 – 11

Registration for the Town sponsored Fall Soccer program has begun. The program is open to boys and girls ages 3 through 11 years old and proof of age will be required for anyone new to the program. The sessions for ages 3 through 8 take place at the Upper and Lower Havemeyer fields behind Town Hall while ages 9 through 11 meet at Loughlin Avenue Park off Strickland Road in Cos Cob. Children must be 3 by August 1, 2010 in order to participate.

The program will start Saturday, September 11th and will end November 6th with a rain date of Saturday, November 13th.  It does not meet on September 18th.  Brad Wallace and staff will oversee the program at the Havemeyer Fields while Ashlee Prescott and the coaching staff of Eastern Soccer Academy will oversee Loughlin Avenue.  This year an all girls program will be held at Loughlin Avenue for ages 9 -11 with Ashlee and girls from the Greenwich High School team helping to coach.

An informal coach’s clinic for  new coaches and those coaching the 3&4 year olds is scheduled for Tuesday, September 7th at 6:00 pm in the Town Hall Meeting Room located on the first floor. Coaching shirts and whistles will be handed out that time. Anyone wishing to volunteer will need to complete a background check if they have not already done so. All players must wear shin guards and provide their own soccer ball – size 3 for anyone 4 years old or younger and size 4 for everyone else. New this year there will be an on site training coach at Havemeyer to go over drills and work with the coaches prior to the start of their session.

There is still space available in the Future Stars soccer clinics at the Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center. This program will run on Wednesdays starting January 27, 2010 for eight weeks.

The clinics will be for children in Pre K from 3:00 pm to 3:45 pm, Kindergarten children will go from 3:45 pm to 4:30 pm, and children in first and second grades will go from 4:30 to 5:30 pm.

The Pre K, and Kindergarten clinic fee is $115.00 per child; the fee for the first and second grade program is $140.00.

The clinics will give instruction with an emphasis on drills, skills, competitions, scrimmages, and most of all fun.
