4th Annual Off Sounders Concert

On Friday November 5, 2010, at 8:00 pm The Off Sounders, Greenwich’s premiere male a cappella singing group, will host their fourth annual college concert hosting Stuck in the Middle and the Mischords of Middlebury College at the Belle Haven Club. Tickets are $20 and are available from any member or at the door.
The Off Sounders were founded in 1956 by men who were nostalgic for the close harmony singing of their college days and who wanted to recapture the camaraderie of their college singing groups. The name is a pun based on an old Connecticut term for men who made their living off Long Island Sound by fishing, lobstering, clamming or oystering. Their choice of a name for the group proves that, although serious about their music, they did not take themselves too seriously. This tradition continues today with a new generation of singers who balance fine musicality with a spirit of fun and friendship.
Founded in 2002, Stuck in the Middle (“SIM”) is Middlebury College’s favorite all-male a cappella group! SIM performs regularly throughout the northeastern United States, and has toured internationally. They released their third studio album, clap.stomp., this past January, and were recently named to Voices Only 2010, a collegiate a cappella compilation album comprised of the best music recorded and released by collegiate a cappella groups over the past year. Their diverse repertoire ranges from classic standards to today’s biggest radio hits.
The Middlebury Mischords, founded in 1962, was Middlebury’s first all-female a cappella group and they have been active both on and off campus ever since! They enjoy hosting groups from other colleges and performing at their favorite on-campus venues, the idyllic Mead Chapel and the college-operated café, 51 Main. The Mischords are also very involved in the Middlebury community. Over the past few years, they also toured in New York City and released a CD titled “Pretty Little Thing”. Currently, the Mischords are finishing a new CD titled “Blue Talk and Love” which will be available in the spring.
