Red & White Ball

redandwhiteballThe Greenwich Chapter of the American Red Cross is holding its annual Red & White Ball on Saturday, May 15th at the Net Jets Hangar at the Westchester Airport.  This year’s theme, “Stand by Me” embodies the mission of the Red Cross to provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.  Guest Host and Bill Evans, Channel 7 Weatherman, will kick off our evening of cocktails, silent and live auctions, dinner and dancing to the vibrant sounds of Soul Street.

The event will have an added dimension this year in that designers, florists and retailers extraordinaire will be creating fantasy tablescapes at which the 400 guests will dine.  Chair Rachel McAree thought this concept would add a unique element to this wonderful event.  “It will be a feast for the eyes.  Guests will be able to view the tables and be inspired as they help such a worthwhile cause,” she adds.

During cocktails guest will get to peruse these stunning tables designed by 40 of the most creative designers such as:  Cindy Rinfret, Carey Karlan, Claire Maestroni, Christopher Peacock, Debbie Fields, Gregory McGuire, Kat Burki, Linda Ruderman, Nancy Marcantonio,Philip Gorrivan, Zehava Davis.    Retailers include:  Betteridge, Hoagland’s, Lillian August, Lilly Pulitzer, Lynnen’s, Inc.

Marianne Howatson, CEO of Connecticut Cottages & Gardens says, “We are delighted to be a part of the best Red Cross Ball ever!  Involving the country’s premier designers with the showcase tabletop will extend the reach of Greenwich Red Cross into an important industry which will help fund its vital relief programs.”

Joan Irish, CEO of the Greenwich Chapter says, “Rachel has brought an exciting design element to our event by introducing designer table tops.  This adds a unique element of aesthetic fun, while promoting local designers, which ultimately helps the Red Cross achieve our evening’s fundraising goal.”

Proceeds from Red & White Ball allow the Greenwich Chapter to provide immediate humanitarian aid – food, shelter, financial assistance, temporary housing, mental health support and emergency supplies to those in need.  Funds raised at the Ball have also continually given back globally through the purchase equipment, the creation of infrastructure and the training of highly skilled response volunteers; allowing the Red Cross to provide assistance – whenever and wherever help is needed most.

Key Red Cross Ball underwriters included Gabelli Funds, Goldman Sachs & Co., R.S. Granoff Architects PC, and Nestlé Waters North America Inc.  Many thanks for their support of the Greenwich Red Cross ensuring that we will be ready to respond when help is so urgently needed.
