MOVIE: ‘A Chemical Reaction’
3:30-5:00 pm
Newly released and award winning, ‘A Chemical Reaction’ by safelawns.org founder Paul Tukey, is a documentary about one of the most powerful community initiatives in the history of North America. It started in 1984 when Dr. June Irwin, a dermatologist, noticed a connection between her patients’ health and their exposure to chemical pesticides and herbicides. With relentless persistence she brought her concerns to town meetings and her fight resulted in a ban on well-known lawn chemicals. This award winning, ground-breaking movie tells people about the issues we face from the non-organic lawn chemical industry. To learn more about this film, please visit: http://www.pfzmedia.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=frontpage&Itemid=53. Topic is suitable for adults & teens. $7 per person at the door. RSVP required. Email: jcordulack@audubon.org or call x239 to sign up.
These two events are co-sponsored by CT NOFA – promoting methods of farming, gardening, and land care that respect biodiversity, soil, water, air and the needs of future generations through education, support, and advocacy.
